RV-4 Cowling

Whether building a new RV4 or retrofitting an older RV4 with a decaying cowl, this is your answer.

We produce high-quality engine cowls that are lightweight and have excellent strength characteristics. Our cowls not only make the aircraft look fast, they also make it go fast. Our latest design stems from decades of development focused on maximizing performance,
minimizing drag, and delivering a quality product to the aircraft builder.

The exterior surface of our cowls have very few pinholes therefore requiring little to no filling before finishing.

Our RV-4 cowl is intended for use on engines with a propeller extension however we do provide enough area for builders to trim if they do not have a propeller extension. The dimensions for the RV-4 cowl are:

• Length from firewall to prop flange: 39 3/8"
• Rear width at firewall end: 32 1/2"
• Upper half height at firewall end: 15 3/8"
• Lower half height at firewall end: 20 1/4"

The scoop on the cowl is designed for use without the current Vans airbox. If you have the newer style oval Vans airbox or looking to add one of our ram air filter kits we also offer an additional scoop. The builder will need to retrofit this onto the cowl. Please contact us to go over your configuration.

Since our cowls differ from the original Vans cowl we include a set of the fuselage cowl cheek extensions to match.

All cowl kits include:

• Top and bottom cowl halves
• Three polished aluminum CNC inlet rings
• Oil door
• Matching fuselage cowl cheek extensions
• When ordered with a plenum will include the neoprene and sealant to connect the plenum to the cowl rings
